Veterinarian

Dr Kirsty-Anne Holtzhausen

My passion for working with animals started when I was a child, after reading the wonderful veterinary stories of James Harriot. This dream was realised when I graduated Massey University with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 2017.

My first job was a mixed practice in the Coromandel, working with all animals, great and small. After four years, I put those nights of midnight calvings behind me and moved to the UK with my husband, continuing to work with companion animals and the odd feathered patient. I returned home to New Zealand in 2025 to join the fantastic team at Pet Doctors Howick.

I have an interest in internal medicine and abdominal ultrasound, but I also love variety and keeping my hand in a bit of everything.

Outside of work, I love being outdoors in nature. On sunny weekends, I can be found hiking, gardening, or scuba diving, and on rainy days, I will be indoors, watercolour painting or doing something creative.
